Playing down the blaw
Benjamin Zimmer goes deep in Language Log's post on blawgs — a neoblogism coined by Denise Howell.
Looking good
My friend Rick has a new camera and some fine first-roll shots of Bosque del Apache, New Mexico.
Lame carrier head examination
The Head Lemur imagines a scary scenario:
He concludes,
Think Electronic Apartheid
Imagine low priority websites like this one or yours. Since other traffic has priority, will people even see you? Will you see me?
It may be time to seriously think about exactly what the internet is, and whether a critical look at legislation may be required to insure network neutrality.
Disruption eruptions
Over at IT Garage: Disrupting the VC Business and Exploring the Because Effect, which follows up on a fun visit by Rick Segal here this past Sunday.
While you're in the Garage, also check on Open Source Law Firm Platform?, which follows up on a wish by Web-Tones for a low cost, high impact, legal computing platform
Both involve disruptive ideas, and both invite responses.
Hawk spotting
Linguini on the Ceiling is a blog I was recently pointed to. The author, sisiggy, describes herself thusly:
A Yankee living in the south. A Jersey girl married to a country boy. The only female living in a house full of men: My husband (Dirtman) and two teenaged sons, Heir 1 and Heir 2.
My favorite line, from her latest post:
If you think you have me, or anyone else for that matter, figured out and categorized, you are mistaken.
This reminds me of the "spotted hawk" spirit of Whitman that lives in all bold bloggers: I too am not a bit tamed. I too am untranslatable.
Hear that, marketers?
This is why all efforts to categorize herds of "consumers" insult the individuals within them.
