Markets are MeetUps

Linux Journal Goes Public is about the MeetUps we'll be starting with, and for, readers staring Wednesday, January 14. I'll be at the one in Santa Barbara.

Sir TBL

Knighthood for Tim Berners-Lee.

Tim made my year at PC Forum, when we met for the first time and he promply said he'd just read something I wrote.

Proof RSS is a brand

Very interesting to see where RSS goes in the practical world outside the blogosphere.

For example, there's this from MedicineNet.com: MedicineNet.com Now Offers Free RSS News Syndication Service for Web Sites and Net Users Seeking Reliable Doctor-Produced Health and Medical Information.

Thanks to Doctor Bill for the link.

Adjust your hearing aids

MaxSpeak, You Listen! has moved.

A year of sunsets

Here's a gallery of sunrises and sunsets, all shot from my home over the past year.

That one above, from December 5, was perhaps the most spectacular sunset I've seen in my life. Perhaps the most spectacular sunrise was the same morning.

All were shot with a Sony DCR-PC120BT camcorder.

Social notworking

Om isn't so sure about this social networking thing:

The question I have is: why the F**K should I share my network of contacts with these commercial entities. They are like BlogSpot that does nothing for my brand equity and in many ways chews me out after making the network connections. Thus what I want is a "MoveableType" of social networking. Blogs took off because it was about one person - me. My social networks should be of my making for me. Lets figure out a way to cut out the middlemen.
