Out of doors

I've said enough about the gatekeeper thing. Others haven't. There's Dave. What exactly do they want us to do? he asks. Good question. Also Trial By Fire. Shelley Powers, who's enjoying the show. Especially Seth Finkelstein, who says This world is exactly the same as *every* *other* *media* *world*, in that there's a few participants who have enormous reach, while most have little to none ("Power Law"). That's just a mathematical fact. Jon Garfunkel (from last May, sourced by Seth). Tech.Memorandum. Squash. Hugh MacLeod. Clay Shirky. (Also from wayback, but a beacon for the retrospective.) Darwinian Web. More if I find time after dinner.

Okay, I have a few minutes.

I should have put Mike Warot first, because I saw this post first, in my aggregator, yesterday; but for some reason I couldn't get his blog to come up (lousy connection at LAX, probably... I spent most of yesterday in airplanes or airports). It does now, and I thank Mike for joining Dave as one of the few bloggers I've read who seems to be in general agreement with what I've been trying to say. Most of the rest seem to be going the other way.

More: Shel Israel. Matthew Ingram (who says I don't allow comments; but I do... Click on the Discuss link below). Daniel Berlinger. Ronni Bennett. Pingswept (who says there is no A-list. Good post). diatribe. James Robertson. Marc Snyder. Shelley again (with some kind and wise words). Jack Krupansky. WebTones.

Off and on ice

Mary Lu Wehmeier, an early (circa 2000) blogger and skating authority, reports on the Winter Olympics. Here's her latest on Michelle Kwan. In this day and age of "prima donna" athletes, every athlete professional or amateur should be forced to watch how she conducted herself and model themselves after Michelle.
