Death to Eyeballs, Part N
How about actively declaring our inattention to unwanted "content", such as most advertising?
That's the subject I visit at length in AdTension, over in IT Garage.
[Later...] Three good comments so far. Read them all. Make more.
Behind the 8 ball
I'm so out of it that I just heard about Live 8, which is huge.
Speaking of conferences
Open-sourcing Conferences is a digest of my last two SuitWatches, and were written on the eve of Reboot and in the midst of Supernova, respectfully. (They come out every other Thursday.)
Both follow up on this column for Linux Journal, about a year ago, and were inspired by Dave's unconferences concept.
Best conf idea I heard at Supernova (which was a great show):
Earlier, a guy I was talking with had a cool idea for conferences like this one. Set it up like any other conference--with speakers, panels and so on--and then announce at the beginning that all the speakers were bait, that the whole conference is completely open. Anybody can learn anything from anybody. Bring up the house lights, arrange the chairs in circles, roll out the hors d'oeuvres.
Also here.
Not inAudible
I had never heard of Don Katz before listening to the IT Conversations podcast interview with him, yesterday.
No sooner do I write about the dude than he has a run-in with Dave (I assume at Gnomedex, which I'm still kicking myself for missing).
On he other head, it's good to hear Dave and Adam are making peace.
Helping communicators communicate
Here's an excellent and detailed article about the pioneering work done by Euan Semple inside the BBC.
Very helpful reading for anybody introducing social computing tools (e.g. blogs & wikis) to large organizations.
V Day
Mary Hodder vlogs Supernova. Runs several minutes, which isn't much shorter than the time I had in the main room there. (Meetings and a minor traffic accident having taken their toll.)
Nice piece of work. Go dig it.
