Digging the clues, one blog at a time
We've heard about the Supply Side, Supply Side, Supply Side! Well sod off, it's the demand side's turn.
Unclear Channel
Here's what it used to say at Radio Free Ohio:
Radio in Ohio sucks. We know, We've listened.
Radio has changed. Gone are the days of big name personalities who weren’t afraid to play what they wanted. Gone are the days when we could hear a newsman deliver the news about what was happening in my town without follow-ups on runaway brides or stories about a Game Show host bedding a contestant.
Most importantly, gone are the days of multiple viewpoints and opinions. Instead we get corporate mandated opinions from talking heads. Corporate controlled music playlists, and so on.
That's before Clear Channel took it down. Not because it was offended by the message; but because it was outed as the messenger by a poster on a message board of WOKY, a competitor.
More here, here, here, and especially here, where Jamie Zawinski quotes an old Bill Hicks monologue that makes RageBoy sound like Emily Post.
By the way, in WOKY poster's bust of "Radio Free Ohio," there's this line:
3. Become slightly interested in what these "radiofreeohio" people are doing, particularly because they've been "interrupting" broadcasts on other frequencies with pirate radio-style cryptic statements and promises of change.
Is this saying that the pirate station was jamming the signals of other stations? Seems to be. Flat-out illegal, that shit. If it's true. Can anybody clear that one up?
By the way, I see that WOKY has a podcast link on their home page.
Another reason somebody should hire the dude
Bruce Fryer was himself the author of the second example in the marketing metric he calls Tier 2.
