Beachfront culture
I had a big post on Monday about the aggressively Nissan-sponsored AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals, I think) open this past weekend here in Santa Barbara. But I lost it somehow.
Anyway, I put up a pile of pictures from the thing. Not included were some body part shots that were nearly unavoidable, considering the exhibitionistic imperatives of spectating at the sport. Just being a little bit discreet here.
Best overheard conversation:

Because they'd explode when they dove for balls.
Made sense to me.

Puncture lines
Dr. Weinberger's report on a visit to the accupuncurist comes complete with a joke for Jay Leno. He apologizes, but let's remember that the good Doctor used to write jokes for Woody. For seven years.
For several months I wrote jokes for Pat Patterson, who sent me to Jackie Vernon, who finished dying not long after I didn't write for him.
Reducing by zero the vast remaining sum of sinners
