Remember hockey?

The one thing I never understood about hockey was the love both fans and players have for figthing. "I was at a fight the other night when a hockey game broke out" is more than a joke.

I believe we're at the same point now in basketball. According to this ESPN survey, a substantial minority think the NBA's punishments for players involved in The Brawl were too harsh. (Bear in mind that, for a player, leaving the bench for a brawl is a punishable offense, and that going into the stands is an actionable no-no — and that we're lucky no innocents got severely injured or killed.)

I think what Glen Martin says is right:

Folks, you just want a rematch, don't you?

Listening to Dr. Weinberger's talk (among those of others) to the Library of Congress. Including Q&A, it runs 1:37. What I've heard so far rocks. Naturally.

Love what he just said about how newspapers have "learned the technique of stripping voice from stories". Wow. So true.

The talk was recorded by CSPAN, which would make a great mainstream podcasting source, methinks.
