Pretend we're not here

Sellotape says you can't link to them without getting permission, Red Ferret Journal points out.

Trees don't grow to the sky

Looks like Internet Explorer is post-peak.

Peace up

A sad but warm piece by Mike Taht about Hanan Cohen's brave efforts to make peace by kite.

Up and stumbling

Just got wi-fi up and running at the Digital ID Management Summit here in London. The connection is the conference's. The hot spot is the one I usually carry along to these things. Took awhile to find a power supply that ran off of 220 instead of 110. Now we're cooking.

Slowly. Oddly, the tested speed is 792Kb downsteam and 1152Kb upstream, a reverse of the customary asymmetry. Even though ping times are good, with little latency and no packet loss, a lot of pages take a long time to load. Something seems to be missing.

Still, it's working. Which is good.

[Later...] Got tech support by IM from Dave Sifry. A DNS fix. Now it rocks.
