Comdexterity

Just posted a long blog on today's two Comdex keynotes, over at Linux Journal. (Right before the battery dies, which will be in any second...)

Living in Google's fur, cont'd

Here's an example of a Google Set, which is just one of the fun things you'll find at Google Labs. Another is Google Glossary, which yields this result for RSS.

Backthanks for the pointer goes to Kevin Marks.

Why I'll be in the desert tonight

See here.

It's even huger than it appears

about how one company came to own the SCAN button on your car radio.

Be there then

Aaron and I are two panelists on a Great Debate at Comdex starting 4pm today in the Convention Center (at the Debate Area on Aisle 11000). Here's another link to the event. Not sure why that one doesn't bill me as The Linux Guy, but... whatever. Should be fun.

Say when?

I changed my ticket so I could get home early enough Tuesday to catch the Leonid meteor shower with my 6 year old kid.

Now I'm hearing the Leonids are peaking tonight. Arg.

Say who?

Here's who AvaQuest sez wrote The Cluetrain Manifesto. (But then, who am I anyway?) Backthanks to Kevin for the link.

It's only four letters, but at least they spelled the name right

META Group on blogs:

Blogs (short for "Web logs") are being hyped as the latest transformational application that will alter the way business is conducted. In reality, blogs are simply a different method for people to collaborate and form communities, using a journal metaphor. This has existed for many years via private and public collaboration tools (discussion boards, groupware, online community software). Blog applications do not alter the existing benefits of community collaboration to business. But the growing availability and popularity of free community discussion software can lower barriers for customers to conduct their own online dialogs about products and services.

If that was the kind of stuff we do here, our asses would have been bored off three years ago.
